First we will discuss renewals. All that is needed to renewal your registration is one of the following: an old registration card, a renewal form sent by the state, or the numbers from your watercraft (ex. NC-9756 BC). Bring one of these and your drivers license number.
Changing of ownership whether it be a private party or a dealership requires a notarized bill of sale. This can simply be a piece of paper stating 'I John Doe am selling this boat with hull ID number ######## to Your Name on the given Date' and have it notarized. We do notaries here at Wayne's but both parties must be present. In addition we need information on the person that sold the boat such as if they had registered it in North Carolina and the NC number on the side. Bring this paperwork along with your drivers license number and we shouldn't have any problems.
We only offer a 3 year registration and renewal for $20.00. A one year may be obtained by mailing the appropriate paperwork to Raleigh, NC. Our registration is electronic and is done on the spot. In addition we carry hull numbers and letters for $ .50. These are required by the state to be no less than 3 inches tall and of contrasting color.
